My Application, I Finished the first version.

I am done with the first version of my application, yeah! It was hard to do all by myself. I had to teach myself a various amounts of different types of code and scripting for the different parts of the application, web, database, mysql, 3D, GUI stuff. I think I spent about 4 months in total.
Since I am quick with the 3D modeling, that actually was they easiest part for me.

I made some little videos about the product. :)
I used a computer voice for the voice over... I am no voice actor.... Gosh! I need some help!

Its not On-Sale as yet. I still am working on the e-shop cart stuff...

Sketch Long Sword - Concept Character for Sculpture

I sketched this in Photoshop, I usually don't use photoshop for sketching, but wanted to get the hang of it more. I had to make my own custom brushes which took me some time. I will post them here soon.
I want to make into a 3D sculpture and then print out in 3D at http://www.moddler.com/
I will post progress on this project as it goes further.

Vector Drawing - Free CG Software for the Mac

Hi, Well after finding the Gem Pixelmator for my OS X Snow Leopard, I had to find an Vector like companion. This one is Free! But it would be great to Donate! This app is clean, has allot of features and seems to work great on OS X Snow Leopard. The UI matches great with all the iLife apps just like Pixelmator.
Makes use of CoreImage as well. Its work a try! I really love it!

Pixelmator - Photo Editor and 2D CG software for the Mac Full Snow Leopard Support!

Hi! A Great Photo Editing/CG 2D software Alternative found! Sure it dose not have all the features of the big guy, but it has Allot! Allot of great ones, the UI is super nice and all the menu items are right where you would expect them to be. You can even import your fav photoshop brushes! Custom make your own too! They are pressure sensitive and smooth.
I would recommend downloading the demo and see for yourself. Its $59 and can be bought at the Apple store or on-line. I am very very happy with it so far! Full Snow Leopard Support!
Oh and its based on Core image technology :D

Real Time 3D - Mobile Marketing

Here is a sample real-time 3D I made to kinda show off what pre-visualization and interactive would be like real-time. There are desktop downloads too. I am still messing around with the code to make more interactive elements and trying to get the rendering abit better looking. Of course that also depends on the clients video card.

Code-Red : The Zombie Hunter!

This is one of my latest Mudbox Sculptures, I decided to make an environment and try and tell a little story for the sculpture. I painted the figures textures in mudbox, so they are more my painting style than real looking...

The Process: I stated with a box in Maya, extruded a simple box figure and posed it, Imported into Mudbox and started sculpting. I could not use symmetry because of the pose, which made it more difficult, especially the hands and feet. But was great learning practice. All the clothes where also simple box base meshes I sculpted around the figure. Even the Hair and Eye Lashes where sculpted. The Environment was also texture inside Mudbox. Beds, Chainsaw and little accessories I modeled in Maya. Rendered with Mental Ray

Goth Lolita Japanese Toy Doll - Mudbox and SketchBook Pro

Goth Lolita Japanese Toy Doll, originally uploaded by starrshaw.

The few times I visited Japan I saw the Goth Lolita Fashion. In Tokyo and Osaka and other large citys I have spotted random Goths walking around. My recent trip I did not see but one, but I was in the countryside far away from the cities. I did visit a hobby/toy store and saw a lot of Gothic Lolita Dolls which inspired this artwork. Her head was sculpted in Mudbox from 1 box base mesh imported from Maya and simple imported base meshs for all the accessories. Paint-over was done in SketchBook Pro.

Last Vampire Princess

Here is the Maya Base mesh it was created from. The Sword and Cloth and Sofa were also just simple box models.

Last Vampire Princess, originally uploaded by starrshaw.

The Last Vampire Princess was just a practice sculpture of mine, but thought I should spend some time and make little scene with props and render it out in MR. I will leave it up to your imagination what happened to the Vampire Princess and why she is called the Last of her kind!
Base Meshs were all just simple poly boxs exported from Maya and sculpted in Mudbox.

Retopology with Maya and Mudbox - Success

Taking my Mudbox Sculpture (Millions of Polys) with the New Low-res Mesh I Retopology in Maya (2466 Polys - 4532 Tris) I transfer the Low-res mesh UVs unto the Hi-res then transfer the Hi-res normals unto the Low-res mesh. What do you get? A nice looking sculpture mesh that ready for Real-Time Gaming!
Next, the texturing now that I have matching UVs for both the Hi-res and Low-res mesh I can produce poly painted textures for both at once. Yes!

Mudbox Retopology in Maya

After a little learning about ways of low-res retopology, using Maya and making the hi-res mesh live (Imported in from Mudbox) and the "Create Polygon Tool" tools seems supper fast and very flexible! Its just like drawing in ploys, it can't get easier and faster than this, and with complete control of where you want your edge loop topology and how many polygons you would like your mesh to be.
(Create Polygon Tool settings: Divisions: 1 / Turn off Keep new faces planar!)
After a strip of points are placed, you don't have to draw each square, draw a large loop. Use Mesh> Triangulate then Mesh> Quadranglulate. Merge Verities when done. Its pretty fast when you get used to it!

Mr. Thrift Skeleton at Bodies the Exhibition

Mr. Thrift Skeleton
I found the Great Skeleton for studying anatomy, his name Mr. Thrifty! He is anatomically correct and almost 3 FEET (33 1/4") tall! He has all movable joints too! Was only $49 at the "Bodies the Exhibition" store!
Oh, Bodies was a must for fellow inspiring artist! Real human bodies, inside and out! A great way to study the human form and see the underlining muscle structures and how the connect to the bones. I was must interested in the bones and muscles!
